The Psalter and Spiritual Refuge
Your Next BibleRoads Study
There is no narrative in the Psalter, but poetry and prose that are filled with expressions of joy, lament, fear, and forgiveness covering the spectrum of human yearnings.
This study equips you to bring hope and healing to your world with new resources grounded in biblical understanding.
The Psalms explore many aspects of God's nature, especially those of creation and salvation.
The Lord reigns at creation, and does so with the deepest love. In the Psalter, God is known as our Shepherd, Rock, Redeemer, and many other titles that show God’s care, devotion, and provision.
In this study, we will explore the five books that make up the Psalter, following Israel's history from Monarchy through Exile and then to Restoration.

Biblical Refuge in Psalms, Book 1 (Psalms 1 – 41)
July 14th

Exploring Book 1 (Psalms 1 – 41), we see trust in God primarily through David's prayers. This is the period of the United Monarchy, when David and Solomon reigned, as is Book 2. These Psalms also include individual laments, born of personal crises, that will contrast later with community hymns of joy.
Biblical Refuge in Psalms, Book 2 (Psalms 42–72)
August 11th

Exploring Book 2 (Psalms 42–72), we learn about the community's laments and the beginning of the “Sons of Korah” Psalms, also written during the time of the united monarchy but indicating a shift away from just David’s Psalms. Organized by their name for God, we’ll see how various authors perceived God and the coming of the Messiah’s kingdom.

Adoration of the Magi’ by Leonardo da Vinci
A complete Biblical Refuge study is included in your membership!
Refuge is a place where people seek safety, protection, and shelter from danger or distress.
It is this study's intent to give you more biblical resources to use during challenging times.
BibleRoads has also explored another key concept of refuge:
Physical Refuge and Biblical Egypt.
Your membership includes a five-part study focused on refuge and Biblical Egypt. Egypt's story is largely an untold one ... as an actual physical sanctuary for these biblical figures: Jacob, Joseph, Jeremiah, and Jesus.
As part of the study, we dive into the Scripture to learn more of Egypt's importance to Christianity, and then explore its geography, history, politics, and even its archaeology; for things you would not expect and in ways you wouldn't anticipate.
And There's More!
