The focus of this Bible study is The Law, God's Law - the Law that God gave Moses on Mt. Sinai.
These Ten Commandments are the moral precepts that have shaped civilization for the last 3,000 years.
We are on holy ground in these Bible chapters, which begin with Exodus 20 and end with Chapter 40, the book's conclusion. Like the Israelites of old, we learn why the moral law is the undergirding of democracy. We see how the Hebrews began to become a people guided by the power of the Law and how their example can give us specific guidance for our decisions today. Through these chapters, we discover how to establish our God-led community and navigate life’s many choices.
We will also explore portions of the three long addresses of Moses in The Book of Deuteronomy. At times referred to as the "copy of the law" or a "second law" The Book of Deuteronomy is important to include as one looks to get a better understanding of the 10 Commandments.

About the Presenter
Madelon Maupin, MTS, grew up in Tulsa, OK, graduated from Principia College with a BA in Biblical studies, and later from San Francisco Theological Seminary, with a Masters of Theological Studies with a focus on Biblical Studies. She served as Cultural Historian for Princess Cruises for their trips to the Mediterranean and Middle East.
Madelon had an extensive business career, working in the newspaper industry, including for The Christian Science Monitor. She eventually had a leadership consulting firm in Los Angeles for 20 years, working with Fortune 100 companies.
In 2012 Madelon started BibleRoads, a Biblical education company for spiritual seekers, providing Bible talks, CD’s, workbooks, video and online courses for individual or group study. In 2020 Madelon's team began the BibleRoads Biblical Community membership, which provides monthly webinars such as the current program, "Women of the Bible." Madelon lives in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she located in 2021 after many years in Newport Beach, CA.
