Sanctuary in Exile: Finding Refuge on Foreign Soil

Elephantine Island, Nile, Egypt
Jeremiah, the prophet, spent his final years in Egypt. We will examine the circumstances that brought him there, what he learned and wrote, and the themes related to the Babylonian crisis as well as his time on Elephantine Island in Egypt. The narrative will cover the biblical story of the writing of both Jeremiah and Lamentations, along with the archaeological and geographical story of an island in the Nile that held significance for Jeremiah and his successors.
